This exploit involves using Knuckles's special ability, which makes him go up in the air a bit before coming down with an attack. If you pause the game after doing Knuckles's special attack, it will be cancelled and you retain whatever momentum you have at the time of pausing (and go into a normal falling state). After cancelling his special, you are then able to use another special whenever you please, thus allowing you to stack this as many times as you want which leads to an infinite amount of height to gain. This allows you to sequence break the game like there's no tomorrow, for example you can go to Bygone Island as soon as you first arrive at Cliff's Excavation Site (without even talking to Cliff, as the plane will be there for your departure). This means huge time saved for anyone thinking about doing a speedrun of this game (or who just wants to mess around), as well as a broken tool for mass exploration. Enjoy! ^_^
